Day 1
One fine day, we pick up the phone and call the web host
we decided to review. We ask few stupid questions about the
services offered. We see the responses and the record our
first impressions.
Day 2
The next day we go online to their website and chat with
live help if any. We browse through the pages and find the
information we are looking for. We see how well their site
is organized and how easy is it for a consumer to understand
the services offered.
Day 3
We go online to their site again and try to chat with
someone or call someone to see if they can answer some
additional questions. We really do not want to go all over
again and explain everything we asked in the previous days.
We see if we can get the same support person to provide
further help. We look for the host be smart enough to know
us we are a repeat visitor, and hook us up with the same
support person or at least the new person to know what we
spoke the previous days.
Many consumers agree with us because, they all have
several questions and they all take a few days to decide by
shopping around. We have noticed the pattern where consumers
hesitate to spend a few dollars on a webhost, while they
will spend over 100 dollars in the blink of an eye on a Mall
trip or to walmart or grocery store!
Day 4
We simply go online and place the order. We carefully
record everything that happens during the checkout process.
We do not like when hosts try to sell additional unnecessary
packages when you are already at the point to fill in the
credit card information. (If you have enough experience you
will know what we are talking about! For example domain name
resellers, having a website made out of templates or
business card printing sites..!)
Day 5
We wait and check our emails constantly. Once we receive
the mail we see how clean and descriptive the welcome email
is and then we get our hands on the server. We also check if
any special requests have been implemented correctly. (For
example hard drive partitioning etc.)
Day 6-10
We play around with our server and control panel. Based
on the package we purchased we test several aspects of the
package. We upload our test site and test several functions.
We open support tickets and evaluate responses.
Days 11-30
We open few other support tickets including one emergency
"SITE DOWN" ticket. We also do stress test with several hits
to our site.
Days 31-50
We continue to monitor the sites and hosting package and
run several tests to evaluate network speed, ping times and
monitor for 100% uptime. During this period our editors
compose the review and ratings. Also during this period we
run polls and gather data from polls and the "Ranks"
database for this particular host from consumers themselves.
Day 51
We finish up the review and ratings and publish it on
DedicatedHostingReview.com. We do not publish hosts that
receive a FAIL grade. We also award the "Dedicated
Hosting Review" seal to the hosts that has a PASS grade. The
"Dedicated Hosting Review - Top5" seal will be given to
hosts that has received ranking in the top 5 hosts.
(Seal displayed on the left-side)
This is a very lengthy process and we take time to do
this. We believe only then we will be able to evaluate
various aspects and provide excellent reviews! We do not
rank hosts, based on what commissions we get by sending
signups. In fact we do not participate in any of the
commission based programs.
